The ‘Great’ Canadian Con: How Carney’s “Nation-Building” Fantasy Hides a Legacy of Corruption and Incompetence
By Eddie Hardie 🍁 Integrity Canada
In an audacious attempt to rewrite a disastrous legacy, the Carney-led “Elbow Up” government is trying to sell Canadians on the laughable idea that 2025 will be remembered as a “great nation-building year.” This isn’t just political spin; it’s a pathetic and cynical whitewash designed to distract from a corrupt, weak, and rudderless regime that has turned Canada into an American vassal state and a global laughingstock.
The “Greenwashing” Prime Minister and His Corrupt Web
At the heart of this propaganda is Prime Minister Mark Carney, a man whose brand was built on climate finance virtue-signaling but whose actions reek of crony capitalism and deceit.
Before entering politics, Carney served as vice-chair of Brookfield Asset Management, where he was responsible for environmental, social, and governance issues. There, he was publicly accused of greenwashing after claiming Brookfield had achieved carbon “net-zero” across its massive $575 billion portfolio. Investigators quickly found this claim to be misleading and false, as Brookfield’s portfolio included billions in oil sands, coal, and fossil gas investments. Carney was forced to backtrack, admitting that “avoided emissions” don’t count toward scientific net-zero targets. This pattern of saying one thing and doing another is his signature move.
The stench of conflict of interest followed him directly into the Prime Minister’s Office. On Carney’s very first day as chair of the Liberal Party’s Task Force on Economic Growth, his government announced major, beneficial changes to mortgage insurance regulations. Who benefited? Brookfield Corporation, the parent company of Canada’s second-largest mortgage insurer, of which Carney was still chair. Brookfield’s stock price promptly hit a six-month high. This blatant, jaw-dropping cronyism was so obvious it triggered a formal ethics committee investigation.
The “Nation-Building” Scam: Decarbonized Lies and Stranded Assets
What exactly is Carney’s “nation-building” agenda? It’s a scandalous mix of scientific illiteracy and corporate handouts.
In a moment of profound embarrassment, Carney declared that “nation-building” could include building new oil pipelines to export what he called “decarbonized” barrels of oil. The response from his own climate advisor was swift and humiliating: “There is no such thing as decarbonized oil and gas… Oil contains carbon. It is high school chemistry”. Another expert called it “the worst sort of greenwashing“. The Prime Minister of Canada was publicly fact-checked on basic chemistry, exposing his agenda as a shameless handout to the oil and gas industry, disguised with meaningless buzzwords.
His government’s economic strategy is a chronicle of waste. It continues the Liberal tradition of doling out “bespoke handouts” to corporate giants like Stellantis and Northvolt, while previous boondoggles like Bombardier ended in spectacular failure, leaving Quebec taxpayers with a $400-million loss. Now, Carney wants to gamble nearly $1 billion of public money on AI data centers—a sector where 95% of organizations see no return on investment. This isn’t nation-building; it’s nation-bankrupting.
The Vassal State: No Cards, No Sovereignty, No Shame
The most infuriating and humiliating part of Carney’s tenure is Canada’s complete subservience to American interests. Under his and the previous Trudeau government’s watch, Canada has failed to develop a shred of strategic autonomy.
As one analysis starkly put it, Canada has a “strategic blind spot” and failed completely to recognize America’s shift toward economic self-sufficiency and coercion. Instead of crafting an independent foreign policy, Ottawa has “cleaved closely to America’s security and defence interests” under the false pretense that America’s enemies must be Canada’s enemies.
The result? We are entangled in costly, meaningless confrontations with India, China, and Iran, while acting as a proxy in the war in Ukraine. For what? Canada has committed a staggering $22 billion in aid to Ukraine, a country now rocked by a $100 million corruption scandal reaching into President Zelenskyy’s own office. This is money taken from Canadian taxpayers and poured into a distant conflict with no end in sight, all to please a unreliable American ally.
We have become exactly what President Trump reportedly calls us: a country with “No Card”. No leverage, no sovereignty, just a pathetic puppet performing for a master who openly scorns us. Our leaders are so weak and unstrategic they cannot conceive of a Canada that pursues its own interests.
A Lawless La-La Land Run by Crooks

How did we get here? Because Canada’s political culture is rotten to its core. The Carney/Trudeau Liberal regime is merely the latest chapter in a long book of brazen corruption.
Let’s not forget the foundation of scandal upon which this government was built:
-
The SNC-Lavalin Affair: Prime Minister Trudeau and his office were found to have used “the authority of the Prime Minister and his office was used to circumvent, undermine and ultimately attempt to discredit” the justice system to help a corrupt corporation. The Ethics Commissioner ruled Trudeau violated conflict of interest laws.
-
The WE Charity Scandal: A multi-million dollar government contract was handed to an organization with deep financial ties to the Trudeau family, without a competitive bidding process.
This is the environment Carney now leads. It’s so corrupt that scammers use Carney’s image to fleece Saskatchewan investors, knowing the Prime Minister’s endorsement—even a fake one—might convince people to part with their money. When your political brand is this tainted, you become a tool for criminals.
Conclusion: The Emperor Has No Clothes, No Plan, and No Integrity

The absurd headline claiming 2025 as a “great nation-building year” is the ultimate insult to Canadians. It’s a fantasy peddled by a Prime Minister with a history of greenwashing and cronyism, who is now pushing scientifically impossible “decarbonized oil”.
It’s a distraction from a country that has lost its way, squandering billions on foreign conflicts and corporate subsidies while surrendering its sovereignty to a fickle and demanding United States.
It’s a whitewash of a political culture drowning in conflict of interest scandals, from SNC-Lavalin and WE Charity to the Carney-Brookfield nexus.
Canadians deserve better than this clown show. We deserve leaders who understand basic science, who put the national interest ahead of corporate and foreign interests, and who have the competence and integrity to actually build a nation—not just issue pathetic, fake news press releases about doing so. Until we get them, Canada will remain a weak, hopeless vassal, led by useless, corrupt clowns.
