If Premier Doug Ford’s recent meltdown over Chinese-made electric vehicles were a cartoon, it would be titled The Yabba-Dabba-Don’t! — a pathetic, Stone Age scare tactic from a man who has long since traded Ontario’s interests for his own political theatre.

Ford’s latest shenanigan? Warning that affordable Chinese EVs are “spy cars” that will “listen in on Canadians’ phone calls.”

Yes, you read that correctly.

In a statement so detached from reality it could orbit Pluto, the Premier — who presides over a province where every citizen carries a pocket-sized tracking device (it’s called a cellphone) — suddenly discovered cybersecurity. Or, more accurately, he discovered a cheap, xenophobic bogeyman to distract from his own corruption and incompetence.

THE “SPY CAR” FARCE: FORD’S FLINTSTONE-LEVEL LOGIC

Let’s dissect this absurdity.

Ford claims Chinese EVs pose an unprecedented espionage risk. This from a man whose constituents use Chinese-made smartphones, laptops, routers, smart home devices, and even “connected” adult toys — all with microphones and data capabilities.

According to Ford’s flawless paranoia, every Canadian must now:

1. Shatter their devices.

2. Retreat to a cave.

3. Communicate solely in grunts and cave paintings.

Because only complete technological isolation — a true Yabba-Dabba-Doo! lifestyle — can save us from eavesdroppers. Never mind that intelligence agencies and cybersecurity experts have long noted that if a foreign government wanted to spy, they wouldn’t need to embed hardware in cars sold to the public. But here’s the real kicker: Even if we entertained Ford’s fantasy, is China the snooper we should fear most?

The United States’ PRISM program and history of global surveillance — including on allied leaders — is well-documented. China, for all its authoritarianism, lacks the global enforcement cloud to police or pressure Canadians. Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence agencies operate with extensive reach here. But Ford isn’t warning about that. Why?

Because his so-called “patriotism” is a sham.

FORD THE TRAITOR: AN AMERICAN STOOGE IN CANADIAN CLOTHING

Doug Ford isn’t protecting Canada. He’s protecting foreign automakers — almost exclusively American, Japanese, and Korean giants — who fear competition from affordable, high-quality Chinese EVs.

As TVO’s analysis notes, the real threat to Ford isn’t espionage — it’s that Ontarians might actually like these vehicles. They’re affordable, technologically advanced, and could accelerate the EV transition while saving families money.

But that doesn’t suit Ford’s donors or his political masters.

Worse, Ford’s hypocrisy reaches new depths with his whining about being left out of federal talks. He cried that he got “only a few hours’ notice” on the China EV deal and that Mark Carney used a “burner phone” during the trip.

Let’s be clear: Using secure, temporary communication devices during sensitive international negotiations is standard practice. Carney’s use of a burner phone doesn’t show secrecy — it shows basic competence. The fact Ford doesn’t know this — or pretends not to — reveals either staggering ignorance or deliberate dishonesty.

More importantly, it shows how little Carney and Ottawa think of Ford. Why consult a premier who consistently puts foreign corporate interests ahead of Canadians, who peddles conspiracy theories, and whose idea of economic policy is a ribbon-cutting photo op?

FORD’S TRUE BETRAYAL: THE CENTURY INITIATIVE AND CANADA’S DEMOGRAPHIC SUICIDE

While Ford frets over fictional spy cars, he has enthusiastically endorsed the real existential threat to Canada: the Century Initiative.

This Liberal-aligned plot — which Ford has never opposed — seeks to artificially inflate Canada’s population to 100 million, primarily through mass immigration, without planning for housing, healthcare, or infrastructure. As Canuck Post’s analysis details, this target is catastrophic. It will crush living standards, explode inequality, and turn Canada into an unsustainable, overpopulated pressure cooker.

Ford supports this. He has done nothing to challenge the influx of “unneeded, undesirable, and downright harmful” immigration levels that drive down wages, overwhelm services, and import cheap labour for corporate donors. He is complicit in selling out Canada’s future — all while waving a flag and crying “spy cars.”

BOTTOMLINE: FORD IS A CORRUPT, DANGEROUS FRAUD

Doug Ford does not speak for you. He does not fight for you. He fights for his buddies, his donors, and his own pocket.

From the Greenbelt scandal to privatizing healthcare to attacking workers’ rights, Ford’s record is one of unpatriotic corruption. Now, he fabricates a national security crisis to protect foreign automakers and distract from his failures.

He is a confirmed petty sore loser — a traitor, a stooge, and a bully who must be removed.
