While the world assumed the battle against the swastika was won in 1945, it appears the final chapter is being written today in the hallowed halls of the United Nations. And Canada, it seems, is now leading the charge for the wrong side.

On a day that will live in infamy, the United Nations put forth a resolution unequivocally titled “Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.”

A no-brainer, right? Who, in their right mind, would possibly vote against denouncing the very ideology responsible for the Holocaust, World War II, and unspeakable human suffering?

Meet the “No” club: The United States, the United Kingdom, and standing proudly with them, our very own Canada.

UN Resolution A/C.3/78/L.36/Rev.1 was supported by 105 nations. Only 51, including Canada, were brave enough to stand up for the rights of… Nazis.

Our government just gave them a wink and a nod. Expect more brazen rallies, more intimidation, and more violence on our streets.

• No Sovereignty for the Vulnerable: If the state will not unequivocally protect its citizens from genocidal ideologies, then what is the state’s purpose? Minority communities—Jewish, Black, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQI+—must now wonder if their own government has their back. The answer, chillingly, appears to be no.
