When the U.S. Ambassador allegedly launched a “tirade” directed at Doug Ford, he was not insulting Canada. On the contrary, he was performing a civic duty for the people of Ontario that our own institutions have, thus far, failed to execute.

The ambassador’s sin, it seems, was one of precision. His remarks were not aimed at the hardworking people of Windsor or Thunder Bay. They were not directed at Canada’s robust industrial base. They were laser-focused on one man: Doug Ford. And for that, we should be grateful. Someone, finally, is saying the quiet part out loud.

To claim this is an attack on Canada is to claim that a doctor diagnosing a tumor is insulting the entire human body. The tumor is the problem, not the diagnosis.
