Received letter from a former fan of Lexus vehicles…
Lexus Has Gone To The Dogs
Don Valley North Lexus is now selling Junks and Substandard Vehicles, or even conduct Scam like selling Non-Certified Damaged cars as “Lexus Certified Pre-Owned”!
Don Valley North Lexus LCPO Scam
Dear Lexus,
I have been one of your ardent fans for decades, you were my gold standard until recently when I embarked on a mission to get a used Lexus RX350 because I reject your newer nonsense with turbo engine.
I found a low mileage RX350 at Don Valley North Lexus and after seeing the car with a massive theft insurance claim of some $30K+ with just about $1.5K repair, I sensed a big red flag and asked the salesman (Rxxxxx) to show me the claims just so I can make an informed decision. My request was rudely denied.
A few months later, I happened to take a look and saw a very attractive listing on Auto Trader that there is a Lexus Certified Pre-Owned 2021 RX350 Executive at Don Valley North Lexus with my wife’s preferred color. So, I dropped by their showroom at 7200 Victoria Park Ave, Markham, and they again sent me the same salesman (Rxxxxx). I literally didn’t inspect the less critical things like buttons etc., as the car will be inspected for most things since it’s a “Lexus Certified Pre-Owned (LCPO)”. I basically just look at the frame, engine, and I found the car’s bottom RUSTING pretty badly — something I believe isn’t acceptable by LCPO standard.
I took a few pictures (attached) and asked the salesman for a discount due to the rust damage all over the bottom, particularly the frame. They offer me an $800 discount and I agreed. They then asked me to pay a deposit and sign a contract. The first line in the contract says “SAFETY CERTIFIED” (instead of LCPO) and followed statement typically reserved for substandard vehicles eg. “As it is”, “Deposit Not Refundable”, “Not Responsible over any hidden damage”, etc.
This is what a “Lexus Certified Pre-Owned” looks like…
This heavily rusted car is advertised as a “Lexus Certified Pre-Owned” car!
The salesman kept lying to me that the LCPO had been DONE by showing me a FAKE serial number. I asked them for LCPO documents/certificate, they got none and then the manager promised they would do it. I said alright but I demanded they must agree to refund me if LCPO is not done for whatever reason.
They then plotted another scam by printing 2 pages of “LCPO Order” listing some works to be done under LCPO and tried to scam me that is the LCPO CERTIFICATE! I finally told them please stop lying because I do know what’s LCPO, and that they have not done it as proven by the physical condition (heavy rust) and no valid LCPO documentation. After all, I only ask them to perform LCPO as advertised and to refund deposit in the event LCPO couldn’t be performed for whatever reason eg. perhaps too much rust on the frame already?
Seeing they couldn’t fool me anymore, they just threw me out of the showroom… rudely and without any remorse for lying through their teeth.
I am writing to you as I feel sad that my only trusted automobile brand Lexus has gone to the dogs — Lexus is now selling Junks and Substandard Vehicles, or even Non-Certified Damaged cars as “Lexus Certified Pre-Owned”!
That said, I will warn the whole world about the scam conducted by Lexus Dealer Weins Auto Group under the broad daylight, and I will start looking at other makes from now on… because Lexus is now confirmed both Trashy and Scandalous, and guess no one will doubt me as Toyota has just been embroiled in one of the biggest Safety Scandal in the automotive world.
Sincerely,
Ted, Former Lexus Fan
