Mark Carney’s desperate BS: “Canada will impose 100% Countertariffs against U.S.” after Humiliated by Donald Trump who left the G7 Summit after barely 1/2 day and says: “It’s up to them: Canada will get a much better deal if it becomes the 51st American state”

r/politics - ‘It’s up to them’: Donald Trump says Canada will get a ‘much better deal’ if it becomes the 51st American state

Donald Trump absolutely got no respect for Mark Carney’s Woke G7 Summit that invited all the persona non grata eg. ‘Assassin’ Modi, ‘Warmonger’ Zelensky, etc.

‘It’s up to them’: Donald Trump says Canada will get a ‘much better deal’ if it becomes the 51st American state

Donald Trump says Canada will soon pay a lot of money in tariffs if it cannot reach a speedy trade deal, and faces a $71 billion entry fee to join the “Golden Dome” missile defence project as he claimed Prime Minister Mark Carney wants — or it could choose the no-cost option of becoming his country’s 51st state.

In another word, Carney has been a complete failure in very sense of the word… Trump gives Carney No Respect, No Deal, actually, not even a chance to negotiate anything as he left summit after spending barely 1/2 day in Kananaskis, Alta. with no communique, no nothing… A Complete Failure!

Canada says it scrapped a G7 statement on Ukraine after US resistance

As a desperate response on the FAILED Woke G7 Summit, Carney simply brush everything off by babbling some kiddies nonsense:

“Quite often … in negotiations, having a form of deadline is helpful to concentrate the mind, and that could be the case here.”

Such response clearly indicates Mark Carney is truly a “Vooodoo Economist running around with a Broken Crystal Ball”

In any case, right after Trump departed, Carney installed Warmonger Zelensky as the new King of his Woke G7 Summit…

r/PastPresentAndFuture - After Trump leaves G7 Summit early, a real President takes his seat.

And what happens next Carney simply threw away $4.3B of your hard-earned money on the MF Ukraine war that has nothing to do with Canada…

Canada pledges $4.3B in support for Ukraine as Carney, Zelenskyy meet at G7

Why do we give billions to Ukraine?

The last we checked is that Canada has no business in Eurasia, Russia is of course not our enemy, and we aren’t even a member of EU… So, why pour billions into a war that has nothing to do us?

The only answer we have is CORRUPTION… as Ukraine is infamously known as one of the world’s most corrupt countries on earth.

And immediately getting billions of free money from Woke Carney, Woke Zelensky immediately says goodbye.

This promoted many to suspect if Woke Carney is a Bisexual Gay who share Zelensky’s passion in Playing Piano with Pen*s…

Is Zelensky a Friend with Benefits (FWB) whom Carney pays for ‘Grindr Bromance’?

Never mind, the next thing we know Carney again desperately tries to cover up the failed  G7 and the subsequent saucy corruption with Zelensky by announcing even more nothing burger ‘BS Countertariffs’ shenanigan.

Here is the news:-

Canada will impose new counter-tariffs against U.S. if it can’t make a trade deal in 30 days, Mark Carney says

The prime minister also announced a Buy Canadian policy for steel and aluminum used in federal procurement.

Canada will impose a new wave of counter-tariffs if it cannot reach a deal within 30 days to resolve the trade dispute with the Trump administration, says Prime Minister Mark Carney.

But for the first time since he was elected in late April, Carney acknowledged publicly some doubt about whether he would be able to reach his goal of an immediate lifting of American auto, steel and aluminum tariffs, and so-called “border emergency” related tariffs as he attempts to establish a more stable trading and defence partnership with the U.S.

While he restated that remains Canada’s key demand, “It’s a negotiation,” Carney told reporters Thursday.

“There is still some room to travel, so to speak, before we get to that point,” he said. “But we have a deadline in order to achieve that, and if it’s in Canada’s interest, we’ll sign it.”

Speaking in Ottawa on the eve of a key meeting Friday between their negotiating teams, Carney announced a suite of new countermeasures, including adjusting existing counter-tariffs on U.S. steel and aluminum products on July 21, at the end of that 30-day period.

“Within the coming 30 days, we’ll continue these negotiations, of course, in good faith,” Carney said. “In parallel, we must reinforce our strength at home and safeguard Canadian workers and businesses from the unjust U.S. tariffs that exist at present.”

“In other words, we’re going to adjust them to levels consistent with the progress that’s made at that point on the broader trading arrangements with the United States.”

In a terse response, the Canadian Steel Producers Association, representing companies, and the United Steelworkers Union, representing workers, said that’s not good enough.

“Our initial reaction to the government of Canada’s plan,” they said in a joint statement, “is that it falls short of what our industry needs at this most challenging time.”

The U.S. initially imposed a 25 per cent tariff on imports of steel and aluminum in March, then Trump doubled it to 50 per cent — an escalation Canada did not immediately match because the sensitive talks are underway.

Premier Doug Ford told reporters he fully backs Carney’s plan.

“If the president doesn’t come to the table, I’ll give (Carney) my full support on full-out tariffs of 50 per cent on steel, but let’s see what happens,” Ford said.

“And I also am (in) full support if the president comes and says, ‘We’re putting 10 per cent across the board,’ well, we need to put 10 per cent across the board and make sure that we protect our manufacturers here. That’s the most important thing.”

Carney plans to update premiers at a first ministers’ meeting Friday following his talks with Trump at this week’s G7 summit.

Carney, who met with Trump for about 70 minutes, will also tighten federal procurement rules to bring in a modified Buy Canadian policy that would prioritize Canadian producers, and only broaden access to federal contracts to those countries that have free trade deals with Canada and offer tariff-free access to Canadian steel and aluminum.

He’s urging provinces to do the same, and the prime minister said they will work on “how to finance the bridge of an industry, two industries that have been very oriented north-south, not exclusively, but very oriented north-south, to be oriented towards Canada first, and then globally with reliable partners.”

With the moves, the Carney government is putting more pressure on Canadian and U.S. negotiators to outline the path to a more predictable trade relationship.

In addition, Carney announced new tariffs of 100 per cent on imports of steel from countries that don’t have a free-trade agreement with Canada “to stabilize the domestic market and prevent harmful trade diversion as the result of the U.S. actions that are destabilizing markets.”

He said Trump did not ask him to institute the anti-dumping measures, “but it’s a consequence of the U.S. actions.” It was also a demand Canadian steel producers had made.

America’s 50 per cent tariffs have curtailed access to U.S. markets and sent producers around the world, including China, scrambling to sell their steel into other markets. Chinese steel, which already faces a 100 per cent tariff in Canada and the U.S. is suspected of being diverted via other countries like Turkey, South Korea and Vietnam into the Canadian market, now that all steel shipments are steeply tariffed in the U.S.

Why do China even wanna buy anything from Canada when Chinese export like EV and Steel are being tariffed barbarically at 100%?

Carney did not go as far as demanded by steel producers, who wanted immediate counter-tariffs on U.S. steel and the elimination of any Canadian exemptions in order to level the field.

During the election campaign, the Carney government authorized counter-tariff exemptions — called remissions — for Canadian importers of U.S. steel and aluminum, that were estimated to amount to about $8 billion.

Canadian steel producers say that gives their American competitors an advantage in the domestic market at a time when Canadian products face a 50 per cent tariff in the U.S.

Carney said only that the government will “review its remission framework to favour the use of Canadian steel and aluminum in Canadian-made products.”

The prime minister said he will set up two sectoral government-industry task forces for steel and aluminum to monitor market trends.

However the latest measures to protect Canadian metals producers don’t go far enough, said NDP interim leader Don Davies, calling them “small steps” that “won’t make a meaningful difference and will ultimately cost many workers their jobs.”

The NDP wants stronger Buy Canadian policies, tougher trade enforcement, robust anti-dumping measures, comprehensive Employment Insurance reform, and the introduction of a wage subsidy program to support impacted workers, according to Davies’s written statement.

Carney noted his government has offered $10 billion in loans to provide liquidity to tariff-affected industries.

Ottawa also signalled that its digital services tax, which Trump calls an unfair trade practice and wants to eliminate, will apply even as Carney’s team is in pitched negotiations to reach a trade deal.

“This was voted by Parliament so we’re going ahead with the DST,” Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne told reporters Thursday.

“But obviously, you know, all of that is something that we’re considering as part of broader discussions that you may have, but the DST is in force and it’s going to be applied.”

Champagne said he and other G7 finance ministers have discussed different regimes of taxation that affect Big Tech at length with the Americans.

“This is not the big thing. The big thing is all the (value-added taxes) and other type of taxes you have around the world,” he said. “And we had a discussion at the G7 about a few weeks ago, and even in Washington last time, to explain to our American colleagues that, a lot like the VAT they have in Europe and the GST we have in Canada, (it) is neutral, so that it applies to goods … there’s no distinction in terms of imports and exports. So we’re going to continue to have these discussion and make our case.”

Asked if retaining the digital services tax is a red line for Canada in the current trade dispute with the U.S., Champagne said, “Listen, the tax is in Canada, the tax applies and will apply.”

But Rick Tachuk, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada, warned the digital services tax is a red flag for Trump.

“Pushing ahead with the Digital Services Tax now just as Carney and Trump commit to a new trade deal undercuts those talks and risks derailing the agreement,” Tachuk said in a written statement. “A retroactive tax like the DST, weeks before a new deal is supposed to be done isn’t a bargaining chip, it would likely be viewed as a provocation. Pause it and negotiate it away while there’s still time.”
