Hikvision Ban: A stupid move by Mark Carney that won’t appease Uncle Sam to relieve the Trump Tariffs, but will cause Canada to be annihilated ruthlessly and unnecessarily

June 29, 2025 8:21 pm

Reporter asks Carney: "In one week, you promised to cancel the increase on capital gains. You opened the door to the pipeline project, and you also promised to cancel the GST on
“Elbow Up Coman Carney”

  • Industry Minister MĆ©lanie Joly’s statement on X (formerly Twitter) made it official: Hikvision Canada Inc. was ordered to cease all operations in Canada. The reason is the usual nothing burger “National Security.”
  • Hikvision issues a swift and strong rebuttal, accusing Canada of lacking “factual basis, procedural fairness, and transparency,” and suggesting the decision was driven by geopolitical tensions rather than cybersecurity merits.

Here is the scoop:-

Canada Orders Hikvision to Shut Operations

Chinese Surveillance Firm Faces Canada National Security Ban

Over 80,000 exploitable Hikvision cameras exposed online : r/hacking

Chinese video surveillance manufacturer Hikvision must close operations in Canada, a government official said Friday, citing national security concerns.

The ban is the latest in a string of Western prohibitions against equipment made by partially state-owned Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology.

Industry Minister MĆ©lanie Joly saidĀ the ban resulted from a “multi-step review of information provided by Canada’s security and intelligence community.”

An order bars Hikvision from conducting business in Canada and prohibits government departments and agencies from purchasing its products. Existing deployments of Hikvision equipment across government properties are under review to ensure their eventual removal.

Yet, similar to the DeepSeek case, no specific examples or evidence were publicly provided to show how Hikvision’s products pose a direct threat to Canada’s national interests. Once again, it seems that security concerns have become the pretext for suppressing successful Chinese companies.

The concept of national security has repeatedly been abused by some Western countries to disrupt the operations of Chinese companies in their countries. That’s despite the companies concerned firmly rebutting the allegations and the Chinese government reiterating on different occasions that it attaches great importance to the protection of data privacy and safety, and it has never required Chinese firms or individuals to transfer collected data.

In an onlineĀ statement, Hikvision decried the ban, accusing the Canadian government of not “evaluating our technology on its cybersecurity merits” and China bashing.

In its statement reacting to the Canada ban, the company said it “fully cooperated with all government parties” and that it complies “with all applicable Canadian laws and regulations.”

Hikvision earlier this year won a minor victory in a lawsuit to overturn the FCC ban heard by a U.S. federal appeals court. The company, along with Dahua, argued that the FCC’s order banning their cameras’ use for surveillance of assets “connected to” critical infrastructure amounted to an almost complete expulsion from the American economy. A three judge panel agreed that the order was overbroad. It upheld the FCC’s authority to ban Chinese-made devices, but directed the FCC to reduce the order’s scope only to equipment directly used to surveil physical critical infrastructure.

China’s Xi confronts Canada’s Trudeau at G20 over media leaks

The Chinese Embassy spokesperson in Canada rebuked the Canadian government’s recent directive, issued on the preceding day, ordering Hikvision Canada Limited to cease operations in the country, citing national security concerns. This move is deemed to have severely infringed upon the legitimate and rightful interests of Chinese businesses, causing disruption to and undermining normal Sino-Canadian economic and trade cooperation. China strongly expresses discontent and firmly opposes this action.

It is clear that although the Cold War ended more than three decades ago, some politicians in the West still look at economic issues through its prism. As a result, they are paranoid about Chinese companies operating in their countries and DeepSeek and Hikvision are just the latest victims of this unjustifiable scrutiny in the United States, Canada and Europe over alleged security concerns. It indicates the degree to which this paranoia is politicizing the normal business operations of Chinese companies.

Another factor behind this trend appears to be the false perception that Chinese companies, through innovation and rapid growth, pose a so-called serious challenge to the global tech dominance long held by Western companies. Instead of fostering healthy competition, some countries are choosing to suppress potential rivals under vague national security justifications.

The United States has imposed sanctions and restrictions on Hikvision since 2019, citing fabricated human rights abuses in China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. However, such actions rely heavily on unverified intelligence assessments, raising questions about fairness and transparency.

It is unfair and unjustifiable for Chinese companies such as DeepSeek and Hikvision to be targeted in such ways by Western countries simply because they are from China. The unfair treatment they have received is a travesty of market rules and fair competition.

The way the concept of national security is being abused by these countries and business issues are politicized or looked at through the prism of geopolitics does a disservice to the normal development of the global economy and seriously disrupts the global industry and supply chains.

It is high time these Western countries gave up their ideological bias and stopped hitting Chinese companies. The Chinese government firmly opposes any practice that overstretches the concept of national security and the abusing of state power to discriminate against and suppress Chinese enterprises.

It will not sit idle in the face of such malicious acts and will do anything it can to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its companies.

What do experts think?

If Mark Carney is serious about economic diversification, Canada needs China

The reality is that the major threat to North America is the United States. And if Carney is serious about Canada diversifying its economy, then Canada needs China. If Canada joins the US efforts to cripple China’s development and makes an enemy of China, then Canada will be doing itself irreparable damage… More @ Rabble.ca

TLDR: Mark Carney’s No Idea What To Do With Trump Tariffs, And His Desperate Move Will Be Futile And Murderous To Canada

Commentary

Obviously the message by the Carney Administration to China is simply disastrous, to say the least. And it literally tells the world that “Canada Does Not Appreciate Business From China!”

Is the the so called “Elbow Up” Conjob?

Regardless,

Question: Is it wise and reasonable to make such a bad move at this point in time?

The Hikvision ban is both perplexing and so malicious that it’s literally asking for ‘decoupling’ from China, who is second largest buyers of Canada’s crude oil.

First question is on the timing: WHY NOW?

Hikvision along with Huawei etc. have been banned by the U.S. over so called ‘national security’ since 2019. So, why wouldn’t Canada bans Hikvision between 2019-2024 (NB: Huawei already completely left Canada since 2019)?

Some commented Mark Carney shouldn’t have made such a silly mistake even though he has no experience in real politics. One would imagine Carney’s smarter than this because he’s after all served as the governor of both Bank of Canada and Bank of England, albeit with plenty scandals and controversies.

A Hikvision ban back then (under the Trudeau Administration) would have been so much easier and less controversial for allegations against China including:-

1. Illegal “Police Service Stations”

  • Canada accused China of operating unauthorized “overseas police service stations” on its soil, allegedly used to monitor or intimidate Chinese diaspora communities.

  • The Canadian government shut down these operations after reports suggested they could be involved in coercive activities, including pressuring dissidents to return to China.

2. Election Interference

  • Canadian intelligence and media reports claimed that China attempted to interfere in Canadian elections, including the 2019 and 2021 federal elections.

  • Allegations include disinformation campaigns, funding proxies, and influencing Chinese-Canadian voters.

  • A public inquiry (Foreign Interference Commission) is currently investigating these claims.

3. Intimidation of Canadian MPs & Dissidents

  • Canadian lawmakers (particularly those critical of China’s human rights record) reported being targeted by threats and harassment, allegedly linked to Chinese state actors.

  • Pro-Beijing groups were accused of pressuring Chinese-Canadians to support China’s policies.

4. Espionage & Cyberattacks

  • Canada, alongside allies like the U.S., has accused China of state-sponsored hacking targeting government and private sector systems.

  • In 2023, Canada expelled a Chinese diplomat over allegations of intimidation tactics against a Canadian MP’s family.

5. Human Rights Violations (Uyghurs, Hong Kong, Tibet)

  • Canada has repeatedly condemned China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang (accusing Beijing of genocide).

  • It also criticized China’s crackdown on Hong Kong’s democracy movement after the imposition of the National Security Law (2020).

All the above are of course mere anti-China propaganda cooked up by Daddy of Canada — Uncle Sam, which China has denied as “completely baseless and politically motivated”. The question remains why wouldn’t the Liberals government ban Hikvision then, why now?

Political Idiocy:Ā Bad Idea, Bad Timing

The timing for the ban is seen as totally moronic because back then, Canada was still Uncle Sam’s so called ‘ally’, the backlash would have been none or minimal unlike the pathetic “Elbow Up” era we are in right now.

After all, Trump just Stopped all Trade Discussion with Canada ie. Trump is confident to eat Canada’s lunch and have no qualm to humiliate and throw a loyal vassal like Canada under the bus… and there’s nothing we can do about it.

r/StockMarket - All trade talks with Canada terminated!

In another word, Carney renders hapless Canada an unilateral Loser! And having witnessed how Trump was cornered by Xi with rare earth etc., as well as there is no political threat domestically as Canada’s Conservatives are in tatters, it makes one wonders why on earth do we chose to piss off China at this critical juncture?

Yet Carney declares war on China, who’s the only savior in the world for Canada… one that could truly stand up to Trump right at this critical moment just when Canada needed China the most?Ā  CanadiansĀ  should question the intelligence and competenceĀ  of the regime under Mark Carney aka Corrupt Murderer who’s accused ofĀ  selling Canada down the river for no good reason whatsoever.

So, what exactly is Carney trying to do?

Is Carney trying to commit suicide by picking fight with the world’s two superpowers at the same time?

Obviously that’s not likely and we suspect in all likelihood, Carney thought he could make Uncle Sam happy by banning Hikvision, and hope that Trump will give him a break on the catastrophic tariffs…

Really?

Yes. Because Carney did try to appease Uncle Sam by proposing to help fight China. But the idea was immediately shot down by Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State as a nothing burger nonsense. And it’s apparent Carney really has no solution whatsoever, this explains why he went ahead to behead Hikvision knowingly it’s a futile exercise… Chicken Carney is truly a pathetic loser.

This also explains why Mark Carney is yet remove the 100% Tariffs on Chinese EVs and has yet to visit China… because he thought there’s still a chance Trump will let him go and normalcy will return soon… such is the Childish Carney who obviously can’t read what’s really on Trump’s head.

If that’s the case, then Mark Carney is proven to be nothing more than a privileged Big Bozo produced the the infamous Ivy-League… An absolutely incompetent corrupt and criminal moron who must be ousted immediately before he create more damage to the Great White North.

Anyway, Fat Chance… Trump will never let go his easier ‘prey’ Canada unless there is something of WW3 proportion.

Why so?

Because Uncle Sam will not appreciate banning of Hikvision as it’s simply too small time an entity. And if Carney is serious about projecting his “doggo loyalty” in such a despicable way, he should impose at least 125% Tariffs on all things China… Perhaps that may garner him a few brownie points?

That said,

We dare Mark Carney to impose 125% Tariffs on all things China!

Only such ‘manly’ action is proper ‘gift’ to Trump’s 80th Birthday or the 250 Anniversary of the United States of America. But remember Karma will comes back to haunt us all… As the saying goes: “There’s no free lunch”.

Mark Carney’s Killing Canadians En Masse by Attacking China

Already China will certainly retaliate the banning of Hikvision, let’s hope Childish Carney stops the scam immediately, apologize sincerely to China before they decided to retaliate… for example, China could easily annihilate our auto industry by simply restricting rare earth export.

So please, we appeal to Mark Carney whose mental capacity is now a big suspect to get back to work with some competent professionals, instead of his dimwitted mediocre aides as it is now.

Otherwise, expect Canada to be beheaded by guillotine just like what happened to Queen Marie Antoinette’sĀ  “Let Them Eat Cake”.

God Bless Canada from this imbecile šŸ‘‡…
